I switched to Barnes TSX 130 grain bullets for my 308 about 10 years ago. Very accurate and they kill real well. My only complaint is they do not leave much of a blood trail so it is a good thing that nothing I have shot with them has gone more than about 20 yards, one moose and one elk. Most dropped right where I shot them. That said, if I guy hit one he had to track the lack of blood trail would make it a lot more difficult.
I have also used the TSX in 270 grain in the 375 Ruger. It puts a serious smack on whatever I have shot with it but same issue with no or little blood trail. Have not had to track anything I shot with these either.
Long story short, if I was going to take shots at less than ideal angles I would probably go back to something like the Partition or Hornady Interbond/Interlock bullets. I shot the Hornady's for years out of a 7 Rem mag and Ultra Mag. There was ALWAYS a real good blood trail and they dropped the game where shot just as good as the Barnes do. They are also less than 1/2 the price.
