Default Drift boat rental

How many of you have rented a drift boat in Calgary. I’d like to rent one this summer but didn’t find many people that just rent the boat. Not looking for a guide as I’m not really into that.
-what company?
-cost?
-would you do it again?

I prefer guided trips, rather fish than row, but if you search on Google for Bow River drift boat rentals you'll find a couple of outfits. One says $240 per day (weekdays) and I think both include your vehicle shuttle.

They may ask for experience on handling a river drift boat!

Try Fish Tales Fly Shop, Dave and Nancy might have something not sure they definitely have guides there.

What about reaching out to any of the guides that regularly float the bow. They might be inclined to take you and a buddy out for a discounted price if everyone has a turn on the oars. That way they can help teach you how to handle a boat properly as well as some advice for catching fish. Then they can have a turn wetting a line too.

I have a hard time seeing many people rent out a drift boat without seeing how the person handles the boat. Lots of obstacles that could ruin a boat if not familiar with the bow or being on the oars.

Saw a rental company picking up a boat when I was taking out last year.

Did a quick google search: first one that came up.

https://www.calgarydriftboatrentals.com/

Not sure if they are still going, but as far as I saw from last summer they were still a thing.

If it is your first time, I would recommend bringing someone who knows how to row. It is something that looks easy, but doing it well so that your buddies catch fish is a completely different thing.

And....dont make Policeman's Flats your first take out.

Cheers!

Following also. I have 2 sons aged 13 and 16 and we fish the crow and livingston a lot. I used to fish the bow often and have a pontoon but that doesn't help 3 of us!!!! The bow is tough enough but for kids it is really tough.
Have floated the bow and elk and from driftboat and took my turn on the oars so looking at a rental a few times this year also.

Default Boat Rental

I know of that boat.
It is a Clacka Clone made in Calgary by Fibrefix.1990 ISH
It is a heavy old tank..Pretty much indestructible.
It was sold by a friend to the new owners for about $1500 ish.
They want $240 for it per day.
I guess it would get the job done but it is really a pile of crap...
Just saying..

Call Gord @ the Kootney fly shop in Fernie. Pretty sure he rents rafts etc. for fly fishing.
