Default goldeye on the NSR

Can you fish for goldeye in the main current or will you only catch them in the backwaters.
How do you catch lake whitefish in the summer in lakes, on the bottom in about 10 ft of water or up higher and would a wire worm with a maggot on it work or something else? thanks

Definately can catch goldeye in the main current.

Use flies (if your a fly fisherman), worms on a p-rig, or a small spoon or spinner.

You'll see tons surfacing when the big schools come through (especially those hot summer days into the evening).

Pound for pound a real fighter!

Yup, far better success with minnows. I have caught the odd one on worms but i'd say 10:1 minnows over worms.

Where I'm fishing we hit close to 50:1 Walleye and Goldeye vs suckers on worms.

Using a worm on the bottom, minnow on top gives options, and can sometimes bring in the best NSR prize.
