Default Fish and ski crossover boats

Can anyone give me their first hand experience with these type of boats? I've heard you can sort of fish or sort of ski on these boats but they aren't good for either. I'm looking at a skeeter bass boat/ski boat type with live well, I like the idea behind it, but don't really want to buy one if they're not any good for fishing.

I'm not set on a brand, I just like the idea of having a couple casting decks, live wells, remote trolling motors, and taking the kids wake boarding and skiing.

I have a Harbercraft 2025 stingray, with a wake tower added and it is great for both.
You don't get a huge wake, but kids still have a blast.
Will be for sale in august

The Skeeter Multi-species line has some great fish and ski models that have a ski tow bar as an option. I love this boat line and quality is great. However, the closest dealer out west is in Manitoba. For right now.......

I bought a Lund 1875 Crossover this year. So far it has been outstanding as a fishing boat. I haven't towed with it yet, but based on the power I am seeing out of the hole, I don't think that skiing or tubing from it will be a problem.

It is not a wake boat, though. If you are huge into wake boarding, etc, I think you have to get a ski boat. But for just standard skiing, etc, and fishing, I think it will work fine.

Once you get good at wakeboarding anything less than a true wakeboard boat sucks. I basically gave up on wakeboarding a few years ago because nobody I know has a good enough boat. For beginner wakeboarding, skiing, tubing, and kneeboarding anything will do.
If you have younger kids I would just find the best possible fishing platform and take the watersports as a bonus, although a wakeboard tower does wonders for helping beginners get up.

It's not for hardcore wakeboarding, kids are young. Mostly fishing, but I've got to be able to have some fun with it for the kids. I just sold my fishing boat with a 25 horse, now I want 150-200hp.

Kurt,

As a few other have suggested - a Lund Crossover or Tyee is an excellent choice. Consider the horsepower and prop pitch carefully to maximize your enjoyment.

I have a 1800 Tyee with a 150 Honda. I went with a 17" prop pitch (choices were from 15" up to 27").

I choose this prop to accomplish the following ....

1) Troll at low speeds using main motor if I need to - this boat will chug slowly along at 2.5 mph.

2) Have plenty of torque to pull the arms off my teenage kids when I get sick of pulling them around the lake - lol - this boat jumps on plane in less than 3 seconds and amazing out of the hole.

This same pitch prop, however, limits my top speed to just over 40 mph - but this is a small trade off for me to get those two features .....

The layout and storage of this boat also makes it a fishing machine. I am running 3 head units, one Ethernet, a 24 v minnkota i-pilot link, two rigger plugs and on board charging system, radio along with the stereo and other on boat toys right from the fuse block and wiring harness under the dash.

There are two live wells, a pro track sliding rail (for rod holders, down riggers, planer towers and accessories) as well as in floor locking rod storage and storage for 3 dead bodies worth of fishing gear and stuff. A full stand up top, ski bar, 3 step ladder and bolster cushions (full padded front deck with back rests) to make it a bow rider on those skiing days.

For my fishing buddies and I, and for my family, this was the best choice.

Alot to consider, but there are many good options out there.

This model costs allot less than you might think. Under $40 K.

Neighbor has his Crestliner ski and fish 18.5 up for sale. It has the 4.3 V6 and also has Yamaha kicker, frt troller and all the fish finder equip you would ever need. He fishes the sawt tour so it is well equipped to fish. Also pulls his kids around with tube and what not.

Send me a pm if you are interested and I'll hook ya up.

Thanks for the tip, but I want to stay away from inboards.

I have a 17 foot Lund Adventure SS with a 90 horse on it... It's a fishing boat for the most part but is great for tubing and water skiing... Like was said above if your really into wake boarding than get a boat for that...

Was in a 2013 Larson 195 fish and ski on the weekend, 195hp inboard, bow mounted trolling motor, swivel seats, swim deck, livewell etc. Had lots of room for 4 guys and very comfortable fishing.

I've owned a Crestliner Superhawk with a 115 Suzuki for 14 years, and it has done all of the fishing and recreational tasks asked of it with ease.

Crestliner 1850 sportfish - works great for skiing but agree that the wake doesn't work for good wakeboarding.
