Default Tyee club achievement

Two days ago my 12 year old son got his first Tyee and entering a club harder to achieve fishing with me and his grandpa. After a few days of catching coho he hooked into a Very nice spring. He’s was yelling the drag is all screwed up dad the line keeps peeling out I can’t stop this coho can you fix it. Dad and I laughed at him look at the bend in your rod it’s to the grip and the top half of the rod is flat. That’s no coho you have a big spring on after a fifteen minute battle he got it up beside the boat and reviled the true size of the fish he had hooked. A few more runs and anxious moments fir him dad netted it unfortunately it was throat hooked making a release of that beautiful fish impractical and impossible for it to reproduce. Great memories fir all of us now if he’d only quit rubbing it in he caught the biggest fish of the trip.
