Default South Saskatchewan River in Medicine Hat

I will visiting the folks there next week and I have never fished the river there, always fish the lakes. My daughter wants to head out and I thought why not try the river as its only 10min my parents. not looking for spots, but what would a person recommend using there? I am assuming that the current is not that fast at this time of year, nothing to heavy I would assume. but any recommendations would be nice, at least a starting point. thank you.

Find a slower pool and chuck a pickerel rig out and let it sit. Worm on bottom and minnow on the top. You’ll catch everything in the river with that set up.
That said, pic rigs are garbage. Google slider rig.
If bait and wait isn’t your thing, cast out jigs. They get you near the bottom where you should be and catch most species.
