Need info on NSR. BGH and FH7 looking for a guide
Hey Guyz,
FH7 and I are looking to get out and fly fish the Nsr in edmonton and area on the 28th and 29th and wanted to know if anyone wanted to come along with, and possibly guide us. Send me a pm if interested. We wanna get the fly rods out. What are you recommend us using? Big streamers for walleye and pike I'm guessing... Any particular color types? Hot spots? Any tips or info will be helpful! Again, pm me if your interested in spending the weekend with us. We we won't slow u down.

Maybe in patches...but very few patches. No offence, but flyfishing the NSR this time of year around Edmonton is a stupid and dangerous idea.

Still a stupid idea, give your head a shake. Someone dies every winter on the NSR in the Edmonton area for stupidity like this. Stay off the river. You will almost certainly need to walk on the ice to reach any open areas and your chances of catching anything are slim to none. Darwin awards here we come.

odds are you won't catch anything, even if you are lucky enough to not fall in
landing anything you catch is likely going to be just as challenging..

don;t even tempt yourself guys, chances of safely landing a fish w/o putting yourself in danger are slim this time of year. With the recent cold snap, the shores of the NSR are going to be a death trap.

This is some of the best fishing I've seen all year.
Especially if youre targeting suckers or bottom feeders.

It will be hard to find open water now. A few weeks ago you could have fished a few spots. Go ice fishing someplace instead.

I have fished the Athabasca 12 months of the year out here in Jasper area.. the RMWF and Bows and Bulls are in the wintering holes and the fishing can be great ..you just have to be very carefull as allways and use your head.. they will still be in spots and if you find them its great i used spinn gear and had a great time the only thing is out here we have Chinnoks but open spots do happen .. now that was when i was your age or older in my 20's. there was only me on the river till my friend 's saw what i was catching .. roflmao
March and April were the best
just don,t take any risks

running water in winter is a death trap. you go in you will NOT be getting out.if you must wet a fly line, try below the dickson dam. but be very careful please. dont want to wreck a good day, snaging your bloated corpse. darwin will be watching the fun unfold!!!

It would be better if you stuck to posting news stories, than feeding people information that could get them killed. If you want to do it, go ahead, just don't tell other people its a good idea.
Not a hater, just fed up with your bad ice/winter fishing advice.

What is wrong with fishing the n.s.r if it's open in febuary and march.
