I was up there a couple weeks ago, still 7' snow banks, and I'm guessing about 2' of ice...with the usual top slush. When I was at the north side of Lower k, the water was rushing in, gates were fully open, not sure how much effect that would have.

I wouldn't think it'll be fully open by April.

Mid-April is iffy, depending on the year....best wait until early May.

ice yes. good or not is always questionable at this time of year. currently there is some hard ice below honeycomb/white ice under 8"-10" of flood water and 24" plus inches of snow. be prepared to work to get out and set up and then be very wet after that.

I was out there for a bit after spending the day at Nakiska just to check it out and it was pretty sloppy in the ice. There was a lot of snow dumped out there today and so now there is a lot of fluff above the slop.

if you don't have snowshoes or hip waders don't go as Dace said it is sloppy under the snow
