Default Trolling motor batteries

So Costco doesn't seem to have any kirkland deep cycle batteries in Edmonton. Anyone ever used the Walmart Ever Start deep cycle batteries? They have a 800A group 27 for $100.

I have always selected deep cycle batteries by what the RCA (minutes of reserve capacity), regardless of what name is on it. The higher the RCA, the longer the battery lasts. Battery RCA is based on 25amps/hr I believe.

I've been using them for the past 8 years, not one problem, and I have 8 of them. 4 of them are 8 years old and still working well.

I am on my 5th year with the battery mentioned and still working fine. For a $100.00 bucks I would have been happy with 4 years before tossing it.

- charge them as soon as you get home (use the right charger ie. 2 amp vs 15 amp)
- never store directly on a concrete floor.
- maintenance charge once a month whether they get used or not

Slow charging is better for the battery. As is Charging right after use.
Topping up monthly is also good(maintenance charge).

Add distilled water as needed(after charging).

Old wives tale-storing on concrete.
