Default Stuck jet boat

Hello all.
I'm fairly new to jet boating, and looking for some ideas on how to get a boat unstuck. I have a portable winch which works good if there is something to hook on to, but if there are no trees or rocks big enough then what? Is there some kind of anchor or something that works? Just looking for some ideas.

Get yourself a plow share anchor, they work wonders!
If you have gravel a bunch of poplar logs will help you roll it off the bar as well.
Pumping the boat up and down as you push helps to move it as well , letting the water momentarily float as it gets lifted.

A couple days ago I ran out of water on a creek, we had to drag the boat a good 200 feet to get enough water to float. Live and learn I guess

You can use a Portable Winch. Have a look a www.wxplorerindustries.com. I use one and wouldn't leave the launch without one

Sorry, mean't to also mention the Pull Pal with a winch or use a push pole as an anchor, just depends on the situation.

Might seem like common sense... But tie it up if you have to leave it over night.... A upstream thunderstorm can get your boat unstuck at a very inconvenient time.

You can bury a log in the ground and leave a slot in the ground to attach your winch cable to.

A peg stuck in the ground with a short length of chain with a ring. Pound another peg in the ring. This way more than one peg has better holding strength without pulling out. You can add 3 or 4 pegs (attached to eachother) if needed. All in a row to the angle of your pull.

If a person can access some logs along a shoreline, build an A-frame over the end of the boat and use the winch like a block and tackle to lift the boat so you can place a log or 3 under for rolling the boat.

Lastly, get a shovel and dig a channel all the way back to deeper water.

It would be nice to have some type of anchor, extra cable. and a winch. But that stuff takes up space and weighs a lot. If you were able to drag your boat out without that stuff. Your good to go without it. Did you put the first dent in your boat. There the hardest to take. But they add character to the boat. My boat has lots of character.lol

Buddies are always goos to get unstuck.

I had my first good stuck last week while hole hunting the NSR alone (bad idea). Found myself on a gravel bar in 4" of water. Spent over an hour trying my best but in the end had to call on a buddy with a boat who had to launch and come rescue me.

Needles to say I'm heavily in his debt until he gets stuck now...and I'm fitting my boat with a portable winch and recovery gear as i sit here typing haha

Haven't found any dents yet, couple of scratches nothing to serious yet. Last time I got stuck I had enough guys with to help me drag the boat to deeper water, next time I might not be so lucky.

My answer for recovery is a parachute , use a drift sock

http://www.lindyfishingtackle.com/dr...er-drift-socks

put a good strong rope on it and throw it into the main current then wham it seems that you have two or more pulling on your boat,, Most times pulls mine off quick..
But be sure to have the release line setup or you will be swimming to catch up to your boat

Used it last weekend to help a boat of the gravel got him off quick then he said thanks and took off, them I realized he still had my sock and rope !!!
