Red face Annual Fly Shop Sales / Switch Rod Info

I have been posting periodically looking for information on switch rods, trying to buy a switch rod both to little avail, so today I called around to the major fly fishing shops in Calgary and asked what they had in stock in a 4wt switch rod.

Seems like they ALL carry larger rods but not so much in a 4wt, some were talking smaller spey rods instead of switch rods.

Looks like the front runner (as it was before the calls were made) is an Echo SR Switch. which runs about 430.00 in all three shops that had them in stock.

A few places had some 6wts on sale for fathers day but I feel those are a little big for what I am going to use it for (replacing a 6wt single handed rod) but it made me wonder if there are annual sales at the fly shops that I might be able to get the Echo as a better price?

At this point any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Redington Dually 4w7 10'9" costs $250. I have 3 switch rods (Amundson 6wt and Sage Method 7wt are the other 2) and I use this rod more than any other rod in my arsenal, single or double hand. I have no idea why your shops don't have better selection. Must be time to move.

buy a blank from angler's roost and build your own.

or put a 250 grain airflo scout or OPST commando head on your 6wt single hand, it would launch line. If you're around Calgary I've got a 2/3wt 12' switch rod from angler's roost you could try, and an 8wt single hand that I use a 300 grain scout head on. Both of them launch line
