Default Measuring/Dispensing powder?

Just wondering what everyone is using for measuring powder charges.

I had a charge master that seemed to work pretty well until the dispenser screwed up. I also use a trickler and 10-10 scale that is pretty good and was used to check the Chargemaster accuracy.

Since the chargemaster is toast I ordered a V4 auto trickler that should be here any day.

I use either a Lyman55 or a Harrel measure and a Redfing or Ohaus beam scale.

SmartWeigh 0.01-grain digital scale ($40), Lee funnel & trickler from the Challenger kit, and the metal scale-pan from the included balance scale.

I drilled a hole in the center of the cover on the scale, just large enough for the funnel to fit in without being able to touch the platter.

Put the pan on the platter, close lid, insert funnel and trickle out X-amount of powder. Rinse and repeat.

Eventually I may buy the GEM250, but this scale seems to be on-point as long as the batteries aren't dying. And even if the 2nd decimal point is off a bit, the 1st one is the main thing.

Default RCBS Charge Master

I am using an RCBS Charge Master. Works well. Alot better than doing it with a manual trickler. I know theres a Canadian Company that makes a real nice unit!

Found them Auto Trickler 4

I use an AutoTrickler. The V3 version for ball powders, and the V4 version for extruded powders.

I also use the Lee perfect unit and Lee dipper scoops.

I’m old school and new school.

I can’t outshoot my 505. I still trickle loads some times, but often I just throw charges, especially ball powders but even some other f m shortcut powder.

I use a RCBS 10-10 beam scale, set the charge just below and trickle up. I have no issues getting low es single digit sd's. I personally see no reason to get any fancy setup but whatever works for you.

I use the Frankford Arsenal Intelli-Dropper and verify every 10th load on a separate scale.
So far, after hundreds of loads, it's only gone out once. But I knew it right away as the scale didn't return to zero after placing the empty tray back on.

Thanks!

Yeah, it helps. Consistent neck tension is also very important to getting low ES & SD values.

Great, something else to lust after! How does one justify a $1500 dispenser to the boss....although she just went to a quilting trade show so I probably have some credit in the balance sheet.

Something to consider when my 13 year old charge master gives up. Canadian to boot, always willing to go out of my way to buy local.

I use a Lyman trickle charger and I weigh each individual load. Takes a bit of time but thankfully right now I don’t reload a lot because components are hard to come by so I don’t mind the extra time it takes.

lol I'm sooo old school, but it works for me, and the extra money I sae right now just means I shoot more.

I use the lee dippers, trickle up on my M1000 beam scale. Do it all this way, 44 mag and up.

Probably burned off more than 700 rounds so far this year, and many more to come.

I have been using a Chargemaster since they came on the market, and I purchased a second one in the USA, that is still new in the box.

Lyman M5 scale I tuned up.
Several plain Lee Perfect powder measures for extruded powders that are set for each cartridge.
A Lyman 55 for ball powders.

The Lee's will NOT work with ball powders, leak like a sieve, but they drop fairly consistently with extruded. I like them because they're so easy to empty.
I throw light and trickle up to weight with a manual RCBS trickler.

I've added baffles in the hoppers of all my powder drops.

RCBS Charge Master

RCBS Uniflow powder measure, RCBS 5-0-5 scale, and a RCBS trickler.

Of note is that for over 50-55 grain charge weights I cans throw a tad under with the Uniflow, and trickle up on the 5-0-5 faster than the Charge Master can dispense the same measured weight.

I use either a Harrels or Uniflow powder thrower, a scale and trickler. Just never saw the need for an electronic one. Quite often just use the thrower and dump directly into the case and don't fret whether its under or over by a tenth.

Got my V4 auto trickler and FX120i scale today. All I can say is wow, pretty high tech for an old boy like me. Played around with it for a bit and it will actually weigh 1 kernel of powder.

Default RCBS Chargemaster

Been rocking the RCBS CM since 2011. Still holds/maintains weight values.
I added the MacDonalds straw mod for powder flow.

Thats pretty cool man. I totally have scale/dispenser envy! Let me know how easy it is to set up and to use because I kinda have my eye on one.

Trickler and an RCBS uniflow. I'm not doing crazy volume or handgun rounds. I'm more interested in precision. So that and a good scale. Granted, if I come into $500 dollars of free money....Hornady Autocharge Pro

Started with whatever scale came is an RCBS Rockchucker kit in about 1980, upgraded it maybe 6-7yrs later to a Hornady M scale, that was a huge improvement, still have it. Gave away the trickler in favor of Lee spoons too. Around 1989 or 90 picked a Lyman 1000 scale, still have it, works great for the purpose, everything but powder, arrows, bullets cases, etc. Also grabbed a Redding BR3 thrower about then. Waited til about 2011 or 12 to p/u a Chargemaster 1500, works fine still. Then when the V4 Autotrickler came out, picked that up, works great. I still use the beam scale for some batches, powder thrower for others, Chargemaster is within .06-8 of the V4, my Chargemaster always reads .1 heavy compared to beam scale, which is OK, as it is consistent and persistent about it, never did any of the speed tricks on Chargemaster, so the V4 is a hair quicker.
That old Lyman 1000 got pulled by the cord, off the bench, splat, when it was 2-3yrs old, out of warranty, called them about repair, said they would look at it as they were thinking about setting up repair on them, sent me back a new one.
Hadn't used the BR3 in a long time, fired it up again last yr to do 218Bee and .223, forgot how nice that was with ball powder, quicker than Chargemaster or V4, I was about 50 rds in before the electronics were even "warmed up".

Started with a 505 scale for many years, then a Redding and then moved to a Chargemaster that lasted 12-13yrs, then a Intellidropper, and now back to a Redding beam scale.
