Default Help me a bit 30-30 value

It seems that lever actions have sky rocketed in the past couple years, I saw one at a gin show a while back that the guy was asking $1200 for. I have a win 94 in 30 - 30 circa 1973 that is in good shape, minor wear from riding in a scabbard, a buddy of mine wants to buy it from me and I have no idea what they are going for now, that would give me a good starting point then I would deduct the buddy discount, throw in the 3 or so boxes ammo that I have and bob's your uncle.

$500 sounds like a nice round number for a buddy.

I have been keeping an eye out for a friend who is looking for a working man's 30-30 and it seems that in solid working condition $1000 is the avg starting price.
Last year I had my 1975 win 94 on a table to showcase a friend's bluing abilities and someone offered him $1000 even with the pitting melted buttplate and loose mag spring!

Yeah they have shot way up in price in the last few years. If you see one for $500 jump on it

Most are $1000 range now. It’s crazy because I bought mine in excellent condition for $500 3 years ago

Default lever guns

Personally, I'm blaming the demand on the series "Yellowstone". All of a sudden everyone wants a "cowboy" gun
Seems like all lever guns (especially Winchesters) have taken off in price. Even the old collector series ( Comanche, Little Big Horn, CPR, etc., etc., ) that seemed like a sucker's bet 20 years ago, are exploding in price.

Yup, when Skippy or Rippy, or whatever his name is, put that Winchester up under his arm pit to shoot a bear. Every hair faced, man bun had to have that arm pit lever.

3 boxes of ammo isn't anything to sneeze at either. There likely worth $50-$60 a box. With the ammo and being a buddy, cost should be $750 and up.

"Throwing stuff in" seems to be a thing of the past

Your rifle in good shape is $700. Ammo is easily $45 a box.

If he paid $850 with ammo its a good deal.

Bought my new in box 94 in 1972. Paid $115--delivered to the Fording river mine site. Took it home on the bus. Still have it and still use it (a bit). Just thought I would let you guys know how much they were back in ancient times.

I’d say that was the cherry on top but not the initial reason. First was Wind River followed by the new Jurassic Park movies that really got the 1895s going. Yellowstone just added to the frenzy.

Thats a cool story. 1972 is my vintage...

I just picked up a 1971 vintage in a horse swap deal. traded a rifle and scope combo that i bought for about 1100.00 last year. Im happy with my trade considering that i used to pick up Win 94's for 400.00 to 500.00 dollars on the regular back in the day...

Don't get me wrong the movies have sure played a part in bringing back lever guns but like always the real push is coming from video games. Ever since call of duty brought out the 1895 tactical lever gun. "tactical lever actions" have been rapidly growing in popularity along with the price on anything with a lever.

Bought mine and a box of shells in 68 for 85.00. Carried it from Simpson and Lee to the Bay parkade and one beat cop asked me how much he charged nme for it. When I told him he said he never gives me a deal like that!
