I drove onto the SW corner of Newell last Sun. March 4 without any concerns. Ice depth then was around 20". With the predicted warm weather I would be concerned with the ice melting/softening, partcularly around the edges. Might be a good time to consider walking out.

Same thought. I was out last weekend too, south of provincial park, and reasonably thick ice at the time, but with the predicted warm spell, it will soften and may have a fair weight of water on it, so I'm thinking I am walking out, as much as I love having the convenience of having my truck beside me.

Going back this weekend too. I much perfer to be able to drive onto lake, but the warm predicted temps make me think that may not be a good idea. Not sure how quickly ice can go bad.

Plan on checking out the drive on at Jackfish Friday night after work, I will post what I see. theres a whole lotta mud on the ice in that area, so its going to go fast. I drove on last Sunday, dont know if I will be doing that again this spring, i have a feeling its not going to be so good at least around the edges with the warm temperatures coming up.
