Default Lloyd Lake Lodge Trip

We made it back & had an absolute BLAST! What an amazing experience in Northern Saskatchewan we had beginning with our flight into the lodge via Fort McMurray Aviation. Reminder that I won this trip so both Fort McMurray Aviation and Lloyd Lake Lodge are two incredibly generous businesses. We were both given luggage bags complete with multitools, flashlights, fishing lures, awesome insulated coffee cups, & my husband loved the little airplanes!
Upon arrival we were graciously greeted by our new fishing buddies, who made sure we were there to have FUN! The Uniat family, Derrick, Desi & Don have put a lot of work and planning into creating a welcoming, comfortable & peaceful environment for all. It is very evident they all have a very special connection to the lake & land by the wonderful stories told of their time there over the years. Our BIGGEST disappointment was not getting to meet Desi, but hopefully that will happen soon.
We were served a 5 star restaurant meal, by Chef Derrick then ushered onto the lake for some fish. Husband had already snuck a few catches off the dock where there were endless fish to catch! 1st night lost count & I savoured the beautiful sunset. Next few days spent every possible second in boat & fishing off the dock. I stayed up to capture some moonlight shots while husband continued to catch fish. Lost a few Big ones due to super crappy steel leaders that snapped. Usually make our own, didn't but should have. Well over 100 fish made up for the few lost! Got together with other folks, didn't have to but thought it would be fun to share fish stories. Guides cooked up a mean shore lunch of fresh walleye & beans or potatoes & fruit & cowboy coffee. Unreal. They also prepared, froze & vacuum/iced packed our fish for transport home. Guides really know the lake & land.
We enjoyed ourselves so much & made some amazing new fishing & possibly hunting friends for life. Absolutely a few tears of happiness shed when we had to leave. I really didn't know what to expect, but we were so thrilled by the whole experience. & a few pics to tell the story. We are extremely grateful for Lloyd Lake Lodge & Fort McMurray Aviations generosity & hospitality.
PS I had to show the boys how to catch the big Pike! IMG_3111.jpg

Default The good old days

I'm glad to hear you guys had a great time. I miss the lodge. Did you guys get to fish Big Fish, the grayling hole, or Langley? How was Hazels Hole? Did you drift the river at all?

Default Will expand

Getting packed up to take kids out for the day tomorrow, I will have my husband respond to this as he was much more familiar with your direction & where we were. Very high water, tried river but no bites for grayling or any other fish. Was made up for by non stop pike/walleye. Such a treat to catch solo many! As I said, will have my husband expand! Have a great wknd.

Default Small World!

Derrick was so very excited about getting his license to fly! Has given my husband the bug as well. Our first trip in a Cessna was so exciting! Even saw a bull moose from above! Really amazed by the water in N.Saskatchewan. Truly an eye opening trip, one I will never forget!
