Not sure which one Mongo is referring to, but I am curious about the Chain Lakes in southern Alberta - near Nanton.

Anyone been out that way in the last few days?

Last few nights of -15 or so should be doing the trick. I'd bet there are people starting to venture out near the edges.

There should be ice on it but with how windy it is usually along that lake i dont know how much good ice there would be right now.

Default ice at south chain lakes

Hello all, I drove by the lake on Sunday and the entire lake is frozen over .I did not stop at the lake to check for thickness. The crownest river and Oldman river are also pretty close to frozen over as well.

Default She's ready

The ice is good. I was there Sunday afternoon. A good 7"-8" (that's what she said). There was a group just leaving as I got there and two other dudes on the lake too. I was surprised it was so quiet. It was about -5 degrees at 2:30 and she dropped down to -19 by 4:45 and the wind came up pretty good. About 3"-4" of powder on the lake. I caught a couple rainbows on small jigs with corn. Probably should've had more as I was getting bites. First time trying my 4-man IceCube shack and Mr. Heater. Toasty.

I'll bet you can walk safely anywhere on the lake except maybe by the dam where water might still be moving a bit but the ice was good and solid.
