When I used to fish for big pike, I always found the month of March to be the best. A 19 lber is a decent fish. What size auger hole do you have.

Congrats on those beauties. Would have liked to know the length's also. Nice that you released them to get even bigger. Also nice to know there are some big ones out there.

March by far is the best. I use a 10". Running the 71cc Eskimo. 👍

We never got the length. Quick weigh in and released her. I call these glory pike, short and fat this time of year. 😁

I'd argue the benefits of not holding them like that but I'm tired of all the arguing on here good luck

It's your opinion dude! Don't really care for the way your holding your laker. Jmho. This is why I don't post pictures often. Good luck fishing. Tight lines. 😬

I can't quite remember but we used to use a calculation length times girth times girth divided by 900 I believe givesyou a very good estimate we used to use this at most of The Lodges, are we weighed them in the cradles and subtracted the Cradle .The slim is a issue with cradles but holding a large fish vertical can rip there insides and they will swim away and some will die ,this is what we were told from fish biologists and from sightings of dead fish from guides fishing the same waters all year long?

I know you mean well Whelen. I had never heard of weighing a fish vertically injuring a fish. Did some reading and sounds like more concern over >25. Not sure if cradle is the answer during winter months especially > -15 C. I think for the really big pike the measurement estimations in winter may be the best. Didn't mean any harm to the fish. Sent her back hoping someone else will get the same thrill of catching her. Cheers Bro. Happy fishing!! Learn something new every day. 👍 This one I ate. 🍽
