Default Walleye Recipes

I was just wondering if anyone had any good recipies for walleye around the campsite. I'm planning on frying them and was wondering if anyone had any good batter ideas.

Cube the meat in 1 inch by 1 inch squares, wrap a half a strip of bacon around it and then fry. When the bacon is fried nice and crisp...it's done.

Sorry don't have much for batter mixes other than the store bought fish crisp, but the bacon wraps are one of my favorite

A handful of crackers (saltin) crushed up fine, about 1/2 cup. 1/2 cup of flour or i usually use fish crisp. Seasoning salt and pepper to taste. 3-4 table spoons of lemon pepper. Coat evenly, fry in butter (not margaine). I make them into nuggets. When done, drizzle a little lemon on while still in the pan. Yummy.

A few fillets , spread mayo & mustard directly onto fillets, top off with a touch of seasoning salt & pepper, lots of sliced onions, and finally a few slices of process cheddar. Bake for 15-20mins.

Tastes 50 times better than it sounds. Also works well with Halibut, Snapper, Pike, Whitefish......

Get some tinfoil, put some potato slices down on the bottm, put 3 or 4 walleye fillets on top, on top of that put onion chunks, green and red pepper, green onions and pretty much any other type of veggie you want. Put salsa on top of that then grate mozarella or parmessan cheese on top. tent the tin foil up over top to seal and BBQ 10 minutes..... its delicious.

Default Yak Tum!!!

Don't know what it translates to, but it is good. Take a couple of walleye fillets and cube them up. Pour on some Soya Sauce and let stand for 10 minutes. Dice up some onion and fry the onions in cooking oil. Add in the walleye that has marinated in the Soya Sauce, cook until water has cooked off and walleye is cooked through. Serve with rice.

Thank you Marshall Ewasiuk for the lifetime of wisdom you gave to me.

Clean/wet walleye meat cut into bite size potions.
Salt and pepper the meat. (with your favourite kind of pepper other then black) also a seasoned salt. But not seasoning salt.
In my case cured habbanero pepper
Crush up old Dutch sAlt and vinegar chips
Mix up so meat is completely coverd.
Deep fry the peices

Mmmm

That recipe is also great with pike. But if your going to use it with pike don't add any extra salt other than what's on the old Dutch chips

Tartar Sauce
• 1/2 cup mayo
• 1 tablespoon fresh dill
• 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
• 1 teaspoons horse radish
• 2 teaspoons lemon juice

Preparation
Mix all ingredients together

Fish Batter
• 2/3 cup bread crumbs
• 1/3 cup parmesan cheese

Preparation
Coat fish in flour, then in beaten egg, then in batter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper while frying in lots of butter.

Also, if you mix up some Aunt Jemima pancake mix(not quite as thick as you would for pancakes) and dip cubed chunks of fish, then deep fry in oil until golden brown. Then dip these bits of heaven in your homemade tartar sauce!!! MMMMMM....gotta go catch me some fish!!!!

The recipe is pretty simple. Depending on how many people you have you can add more things to this recipe.
1.Have a decent fire with some nice coals
2. Fry 1 lb of chopped bacon in cast iron pot, add 1 medium onion part way through
2. once bacon is cooked add 2-3 liters of chicken stock and boil
3. chop and add any veggies you want(I prefer carrots, potatoes, celery) and cook over fire until tender
4. Slowly add at least 1 liter of whipping cream( it may take more as this is not an exact science) I like my soupy nice and creamy
5. last add your fish, it's best with walleye but I'm sure anything will do. I sometimes will add the whole fillets or will sometimes cut them in pieces. The fish will cook in about 5 mins or so, then you can simmer for awhile or eat right away!!

Now like I say, this isn't an exact science. I have fed up to 16 people from one pot of this so you just adjust and add more of whatever you want. Not the best instructions but with a little trial and error you won't be sorry you tried this!!!

Just a good Deep fry Fish and Chips. Every time I make it I will try a different batter mix.
Pro Bass has about 4 different types also .
