Default Where did the ducks go?

OK. New to duck hunting. Found a great, secluded set of small lakes and ponds in WMU 248 back in mid September that was full of teal, mallards, coots. They were there in the morning, mid day, and evening.

Fast forward to now, I came back a month later (October 22/23) to hunt some and they are no where to be found. Came before sunrise and stayed till after sunset.

Does anyone have any idea where the ducks went? I find it very unlikely they were hunted out, as this spot shows no evidence of human activity and is not well known. Is the unusually warm October having an effect on the habits of these ducks? Or is it normal for ducks to occupy a wetland for a while and then completely abandon it?

That early snow probably pushed a few south a little prematurely.

There were thousands between Camrose and Stettler a week ago. But I haven't been able to scout since.

s mentioned, some probably moved south a week or so ago but most have formed much larger flocks. There were still LOTS around on the weekend from Saskatoon north to our cabin.
