Default McGregor Lake canoe?

Hi folks

I have a standard 16' fiberglass canoe and I was wondering if it would be safe to use if for fishing on McGregor. One of the options I considered was to put outriggers on it.

Your input is appreciated as I have never fished this body of water.

thanks

Richard

Travers is more sheltered and has good fishing off the little bow launch. It would be better suited to a canoe than McGregor.

I have an inflatable zodiac type boat and have been on barrier lake, spray, and other big windy lakes. It sucks, but I stay fairly close to shore and within a reasonable distance of the launch so I can get out when the wind picks up. Really early in the morning and after 7 at night are generally less windy I find.

I checked out Little Bow Reservoir last weekend on the way home, Id rather take my canoe in there than Travers or Macgregor, smaller water and a lot more sheltered. looks like a good place to fish too, I will be trying it out soon.

Thanks for the input. I am going to re-think this idea as I am looking for a fishing trip not a maritime adventure.

Default Wayne-Little Bow

Did you fish Little Bow? It is one of the few places in that area I have not tried yet. I have heard it has a good mix of fish like Traverse.

did a little casting off the shore, looks good around the outlet, and the canal is looking good too, splits in two directions. Think I may head that way this weekend just to fish, wasnt impressed with the campground, a little crowded for my liking.

I thought there was no campground at littlebow?
Is it a new one or something?
Most go from little bow park at Traverse.

As for the fishing....it has had a bad rap for years as it was over fished a lot a while back. Same fish in it as in travers, as every other canal fed lake. Haven't been there myself in years but the pike fishing in early spring used to be really good. Not sure about a campground, don't remember one being there.

theres a campground, with a boatlaunch too. didnt notice the fees, I think it was 15 a night too. the campground is just off the highway by the dam. there were quite a few people there, looked pretty crowded. sorry the pic is taken from up on the dam.
