Default Fincastle

Does anybody know what is the best way to access the lake, what road to turn off the highway on to. How long is the drive from lethbridge.

also what bait is working for perch.

thanks

If your out for perch skip fincastle and go to sherburn. Easiest way to get to fincastle is to turn left at Lamb Weston Plant and drive north. After the battery (still being put together) there is a Buck For Wild Life sign and a road that heads North West its just a worn trail. Take that "road" and it will take you right to the lake. Its about 45 minutes from lethbridge

Sherburn has a better chance of catching perch. Not saying Fincastle doesnt have them I have just caught more (same with anyone I talk to ) at sherburn compared to fincastle.

We use a 1/8 jighead tied directly to the line and a minnow jigged anywhere from 1"-6" off the ground. I like to bang against the ground as well.

Works great for Pike, Perch, and Walleye.

Default Any pointers for some out-of-towners??

Drove down from Brooks today to catch some perch at Fincastle... Nothing! Tried all over the lake and caught nothing, not even a bite. The fish finder was full.......... maybe it was having technical difficulties... or maybe it was just us! We tried minnows, maggots, meal worms... Anyone had any luck here this summer?

We usually just hook on some worms or grasshoppers on a snelled hook under a bobber and can't keep the perch off! But that was a few years ago now.

We had a raft that we built out of old barrels. We would paddle it out a ways, and haul in the perch. We even caught a few pike fingerlings that way too!
