Default safety clearance issue

Hi to all who reads my thread! I am having an issue with a rifle safety clearing my scope and I am looking for some input. I have a Husqvarna with a M98 action. It has a three position wing safety and there is no room to flip it over i.e no scope clearance. If I use tall rings, my cheek/stock weld is gone. It has open sights and as is, the rifle fits me perfectly. I was quoted about $400.00 to change the saftey out. Any thoughts or helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and best regards,
Arbourjay.

Buy a Buehler low profile safety for Mauser 98 - not horrifyingly expensive and easy to install.

You can also buy a Model 70 style safety for Mauser 98 but may well require gunsmith fitting. Tradeexcanada.com had some at a reasonable price, but may be modest in their quality at the low price.

$400 quote is over the top for any safety conversion on Mauser 98 action IMHO.

Unless the smith has to design & machine the parts from scratch.

Buy an aftermarket trigger with a safety, and swap the military style shroud for a fn style.

Don't use the safety.

One way to get past the issue without any permanent modifications to your gun may be to use the tall rings and then raise your comb height with a stock raising kit. I have seen ones from Beartooth online for under $25 plus shipping.

X2.....

Best safety is an empty chamber and a finger off the trigger.

Agreed, but I would still drop in an aftermarket trigger and the fn style shroud. Better trigger, and much cleaner lines.
