Banff Restaurants
Been a long while since I had dinner in Banff. I knew some great places in the 70's. But they likely don't exist anymore.
Taking the missus there for a few days mid-week and interested in what might be recommended by AO diners in the know
Needed an excuse to wear my spanky new Plumbing Toque-Courtesy of Caber

There is an awesome vegetarian restaurant called Nourish!
Just don't go if you have (or someone that you are with has) ADHA! The art is WAYYYYY to distracting!

Banff Avenue Brewery has great food and great beer. Been there many times and have always been impressed with food and service.
St. James Gate Irish pub is also a great place to eat, great menu and quite affordable.

We really like the Balkan, or St James Pub for a good lunch, and 'Chuck's' is a terrific steakhouse - the Saltlik is great too, but a little loud and busy for us older farts.
Some of the places you remember from the 70s might still be operating, like The Grizzly House, The Magpie and Stump, and Bumpers Beef House (in a different location though).

Ticino is a nice place on the main road (but a bit outside of the busy downtown core) that's been in Banff since 1979. They've been doing something right.

If you don’t mind spending some coin, the Waldhaus in the Banff springs is the place to go. Maybe not the best in the world, but hands down the best in Banff.

Haven't been to Banff for quite a few years now. Wasn't there a pretty good restaurant/pub that was upstairs in a building?

I really like Coyotes. As others have said Saltlik is really good, but quite loud, similar to a cactus club kind of thing.

I didn't find the prices too outrageous myself - certainly no worse than some of the other establishments mentioned, quality and service excellent.

Trust me on this, if you are in Banff mid-week and if the promotion is still on you should try and take advantage of "Pasta Wesnesday" all you can eat buffet at the Rimrock (Primrose Dining Lounge). Large salad and pasta stations, (you put all the ingredients you want in a bowl and the chefs will prepare your salad and pasta), nice appi/charcuterie selection, and the best of all - their world famous pastry/dessert section. We always leave stuffed and happy - and it's $30/person. You absolutely need reservations and it's a nice place to if you want to "fancy it up" a bit
I also like Park Distillery (right on Banff ave). Really good food and you can try some of their award winning spirits.
Banff Park Lodge also has a really good Friday night seafood buffet.

The Old Spaghetti Factory ? Still there, good food at a decent price.

X3 on the Park Distillery. Really great food and a nice spot to sit and hang out.
There’s also the old favourites like Stump and such but Park has something new which is nice once in a while.

Wouldn’t recommend the Waldhaus. Worst steak ever and zero f***s were given when I informed them...

Ditto on Balkans and The Saltlik. Also Mellissa's Missteak.
If your budget can handle it, the brunch at Bow Valley Grill, Banff Springs Hotel is awesome.
