Default Sylvan lake poachers

My brother just called and told me he called RAP because he saw 2 idiots poaching on the main peir in Sylvan. He said that they were using 4 rods each all barbed with pickerel rigs. He said that he and the guy beside him phoned and a CO called him back and said they were there videotaping the offenses. Will update if he calls back to give me an update. Hope they nail those poaching bastards and give them some major fines and ban them both from fishing.

Default Good for your Bro.......

It's good to see that there are people around that give a damn

Jeeezuz, what a couple o' turds eh?... I mean, that's Pretty 'ballsy' isn't it ? 4 rods a piece and barbed rigs to boot ! Man, I fish with 4 rods or more when I go out but only one in the water at a time !

There should be a penalty for being so utterly stooooopid... Perhaps having to read the REGS over and over again while they eat all the 'Sushi Style' Pike and Walleye that they caught (illegally) might cure them of their 'nasty fishing habits'.

(Man, I hate poachers....)

Cheers,

/FC...

I disagree. Sounds pretty ignorant to me. Being that it is such a public place, I'm thinking that they were just totally clueless. I can't tell you how many arguments I've gotten into with people lately, as I go about learning Alberta's regs. People simply don't believe me (especially with barbed hooks) until I actually point it out in the regs. Then they go on about how stupid it is, how no one will ever catch a fish, why do they sell them if you can't use them . . . blah, blah, blah.

I hate to say this . . . but maybe they need to implement a test to get a fishing license.

Anyhoo . . . did the authorities do anything?

Default Yes it bad out there

I was at Lesser slave last weekend and I was speaking to this guy and he said he goes to the lake and allways fills his cooler with walleyes and that he would,nt drive that far for just one walleye (which is the limit)

Every time I go to a lake I see someone breaking the rules

Default Update!!!

Just talked to my brother and he told me the CO called him this morning to let him know that they have laid 48 charges in total between the 2 poachers and total of $30,000 in fines and because they were from Europe and here illegally they were deported and escorted to the airport to ensure they were shipped back overseas.

Excellent!

Good to know that calling RAPP does something from time to time.

Ah Well,

They'll NEVER collect that money, but at least the Eurotrash will have no Access to Canada and it's waters ! Stiffer penalties for the rest of the 'local poachers' might be just the thing to 'curb the issue'.

Cheers,

I don't know-- but if I know any type of law they would have to be convicted first before deportation would come into effect. That is if fishing offences are even a reason to deport people and I'm thinking it would take more than 5 days to sort this all out.

Default Jorg, you're correct

...In fact, the poachers would be arrested and a bail hearing would be done over the phone asap if there was any reason to believe they would be leaving the country soon. This would allow the justice system to get at least some money out of them. Deported 5 days later because of a fishing charge....not likely people....

fastest deportation in Canadian history,if that's true....hope it is....then they can start looking for the other 30,000+ they "don't know where they are"
