Default Central Alberta wrecking yards with older cars...

Looking for a radiator fan shroud to fit a 69 or 70 fullsize Ford, 351w, no A/C. Models include Ford Galaxie, LTD, XL, Mercury Meteor, Monterey.

Have tried Edmonton wreckers such as Picknpull, Bucks, and others: Ivan Perry, Victor Panchyschyn, Aldon Auto in Lamont.

Willing to drive within an hour or so of Edmonton. Any others I don't know about? Some old farmer with a bunch of old Fords in a field? I could always buy some sheetmetal and build one for now, but would rather just get a proper one.

Bought this car and of all things the fan shroud was missing.

Try the big auto wrecker in Barrhead.. I can't remember his name but he has a lot of cars in there.

Thanks, just called them, nothing close to that car though. He did mention that they do have a few older cars, just not what I needed.

Tried that too lol! I'm calling and texting all my car buddies. Hopefully something turns up. Wouldn't mind a road trip tomorrow if I knew the chances were good, but it's not very promising at the moment.

Did you try to expand the geographic location, like all of Canada or all of North America??

You have a good point. Switched it to the US and there is one there. If I don't find anything in the next week or so, I will likely pursue this. Thanks!

Still hope to find one locally...

Can you send me links? I've been on Kijiji and nothing in Alberta for parts, only complete cars, and mostly mid sixties.

Merv's truck parts in Warburg possibly. He does some auto wrecking and there are old cars in the area.

On a long shot "Little Lot" on the west end of Edmonton deals in classic cars and is connected to lots of people that might have what you are looking for. 216th street and Stony Plain road. It's tricky getting to the location because you have to use the service road that goes under the Winterburn road overpass. He always has some nice cars to look at too.

Blacknorthern might have a lead on one in a couple weeks. Tomorrow I'll call Merv and the Stettler wrecker, East Central is the place I think.

Thanks everyone, I have a feeling it would be those Stettler type of wreckers that will have one, or somebody with an old wreck in the back 40. If anyone knows of any other wreckers not mentioned yet, it would be much appreciated.

You guys are awesome! Was not expecting this much help.

Coyote auto wrecker near tofield. Guy has lots of old cars. I needed some parts for my 65 impala, he had 6 or 7 to choose from. Reasonable guy once you go out and meet him.

Try Jasper Auto Parts on the South Side. I have got parts thee for 25-30 year old vehicles, not sure about 50 year old ones though. Still worth a call. They are also good at trying to track something down for you.

Here is a link to a repro one for 70 U.S. There are a ton of places that list them for sale.

Just a heads up, I've been looking for some parts and found lots of what I needed on the US side from this site. The problem I found is that most do not ship to Canada, but they all told me I could drive down to pick it up.

Rock Auto has a couple choices and they will ship to Canada.

New makes much more sense than some 45-50 year old part.

Rockauto does not have any fan shrouds for my car.

Bottom line is, I'm aware of how unlikely I am to find a fan shroud, in the end I might just fabricate my own but I'll see what happens in the next few weeks.

Might try Jasper Auto Parts as well.

Have you tried calling Mike Hall in Tappen, BC? He’s got around 400 old classics, and most likely has what you need or will know who has it. Check out the “Rasta Blasta” on Rust Valley Restorers!

I would think as a last resort taking a drive through some of the near to Edmonton reserves would be productive. Not slagging anyone at all. I would think the reserves see the least amount of crushers and those are common back in the day Fords.

try the "carcheologists" in Vernon b.c. they carry all American made automobile parts starting (or ending) at 1970 and earlier. they have absolutely everything. though you might have to call a random car company or the Vernon chamber of commerce to get a phone number, I doubt they're on the internet but then again, I didn't look.

Picked up a fan shroud for the car today at Coyote Auto Salvage near Tofield. I setup an appointment to meet the owner there today, it was a real cool place if you are into old cars. He took me around in his 4x4 and showed me most of the property. If I remember it right, he has over 1900 vehicles, and 500 of them are older than 1970. The place is HUGE and he has lots of room around the cars, they even have nicknames for different areas, I think one was called Dodge City lol.

We drove out to one of the cars that had a shroud, we removed it from that car and returned to the front area. I paid him and then installed the shroud right there before I left and it fit perfectly. Thanks for all of your tips guys, and especially to zims23 for recommending Coyote!

The plan for this car is to take a road trip with it to Alaska this summer. Bought the car sight unseen a few months ago, that's a story in itself. Now I feel totally confident about driving it that far. I drove it to Tofield and back (250km round trip) and it used just over a quarter tank of fuel, pretty good. Will calculate the exact fuel economy on the next fill-up. I have several modern vehicles with a crazy amount of options but there is something about driving these simple old cars that puts a smile on your face.

Don't recall seeing any, but that doesn't mean there are none. Just give him a call, he seems to have most of his car inventory memorized.
