just wondering if anyone has been out that way and could let me know how ice conditions are and if it is good enough yet to drive on

I beleive so, I was there last weekend about 20" of ice people were driving on it

yes is is driveable, be careful though. Even a F&W officer put a truck through a couple years ago with 2 feet of ice in "MOST" areas.
