Default Harris Bipod Adapter Question

Im wondering if anyone has installed a # 9 harris bipod adapter on their rifle. The # 9 is for rifles with a flat bottom foreend. Im just curious as to how it attaches to the stock before I get one. Im installing it on a savage model 12 f class. Any help would be great.

I tsattches either with a stud in the stock or a rail adapter.
the rail adapter is easily made using a small bolt that is thinned on each side of the threads and the head trimmed down, or you can buy one from Harris.
