Sheephunter, theres afew of us that are curious what Vannesa's mule went that is in the last issue of AO. A gross score would be great.

Actually don't have a net score on him but we did do a gross score that night in camp....I know he fooled me. Give her your best guess and we can play the high/low game.

One hint is that he is just over 30" outside and don't forget those brow tines....over 6-inches there alone

I call it 168.
Tons of width, but it looks like the forks are not that deep.

Great buck. I love the width

Still low.....his front forks are much better than they look in this photo and he has incredible mass.....plus that 6 inches of brow tine. He is a real fooler. I'm not so sure I'd have been so gracious and let Vanessa shoot him had I known his real score...lol

Not bad for a first buck...lol....bigger than anything I've shot.

Im throwin a gross in around the low to mid 180-s. Man, on a mule, those brows are a big bonus. They sure can clean up a bunch of deductions in a hurry if they look like that. Hes a beauty hey. Awesome first mule, no matter what he goes.

keep a strain on er, pack.

edit; those look like pretty awesom main beams.

Packhuntr, try just a wee bit higher

It was an amazing hunt whether it was a first mulie or not. I couldn't have done it without the help I had.

WOW!

Give me a minute.. I will have to revise my score

Bouhuntress, great deer. Was Rich with you? He must have been the one helping. TJ cant help that much. Also sounds like a heck of a shot. I liked the part about the bale. We have used that trick also.

Looks like 191.
What did you guys guess it was out in the field?
Those back tines grow a bit.. (Welcome to Alberta) you are looking at over 200.
Problem with my Big one is great back tines and no front tines

I guessed low to mid 180s gross...leaning more to the low side. I'll let bou fill you in on the real score...now that she's an AFGA scorer and all.

Actually in the field we gross scored him at 190 3/8. It was a really rough score but since I just finished my horn scoring course with Jack Graham, I can't wait to get a tape on him.

Quite a first mulie yes but this was her first buck of any species. My first buck was a tad smaller if I recall.....lol...glad that was a long time ago and my memory is going. Pretty sure my first buck would have scored about 30 but he was an honest 1x1.

Great timing Bou! Congrats on the amazing start!

I had a similar start with a 164 6x6 whitetail and 20 11/16" black bear in my first 3 big game animals before i turned 16. Dad was into it real heavy back then and reason i got such a good start. Life took me out of it since then until about 5 yrs ago when i picked it back up again and started with the bow...a few pope deer later i'm more than happy with my successes to this point. Its an awesome 'lifetime' sport with a never ending supply of new challenges to keep it interesting. You keep hangin with Sheep & friends and pretty soon you'll have more animals than wall space by the sounds of things. Cool.

Thanks Blakeinator!

I sure have had an amazing first season...190 mulie, 150+ white-tail, 19" black bear...and now I'm hooked for life Although I can certainly wait for the taxidermy bill...LOL.

I definitely couldn't have done it without Sheeps help!

Just can't wait to get going again soon. First thing on the agenda...sporting clays at Silver Willow!
