Default 2011 Shedcrazy's season

Well, I finally got down to downloading some photos from the 2011 season and decided to post a few of our adventures. No monsters were taken this year but I got to spend a lot of time this fall outdoors and lots of days in the field with my family.
It started on our annual sheep hunt. A few guys from here helped kick start our hunt and a big thanks goes out to them (they know who they are!). We met some great people on the mtn and saw some rams. One ram was a squeeker and we let him walk. Hopefully he made it through the season and we will be able to go back and get him.
Then I was able to get the girls and some of their friends out for some goose hunts.

I chased this guy around archery hunting

But arrowed this guy on the last day of the season with some help from another AO member.

I also took this mule buck while scouting for my dad's antlered mule tag.

The girls continued to come out and hunt/scout with me most of the season. We took this deer on a fun blackpowder hunt. It was one of the best days in the field all year.

I was also lucky enough to get out with my dad this fall on two hunts. One was for his mule buck. We couldn't hook up until late in November and we got one of his best mule bucks on his 68th birthday. It was a buck I had spotted a few days earlier in a great walk-in only area and that day we were surounded by bucks in rut. There were grunts and bucks running all around us until we found this guy and as we watched him he came right to my dad. We debated on taking him until he was much to close for my dad too resist. It was "one of those days" that I will remember for a long time.

I also got away from the check station to help dad on his base hunt. We saw quite a bit of deer but nothing real big. He did take one buck and passed on a few. We had a good 3 days together.

My girls and I got out and had fun checking trail camera in the late season but nothing interested us. Some nice up and comers though.

Great pics and story Shane. I always enjoy seeing J&J in the pics as they get older each each year you post stories with them.
You and Pops had some good hunts together as well , I bet he is proud that you carry on the hunting tradition you started with him as a youngster and are passing on to your kids.
To bad G&A never filled their tags due to their high scoring standards they seem to accomplish every year and we could have seen their smiley faces in the 2011 season...always next year.

Congratulations Shane and some awesome pics indeed!! I agree with ISB. That whitetail you got pics of is going to be an excellent deer next year.

Thanks guys! As you can tell I am pretty lucky to have two girls that share my passion for the outdoors. Plus a supportive wife!

2012 has been a bit tougher so far but it's a long year! I might need their luck soon.
