Default Propane outboard, Your thoughts

Evening all, Just came across a shop here in Edmonton that sell the Lehr propane out board motor. Seems like a great idea as well as many benefits. what are your thoughts on this product?

They sound good, a friend has just bought a 5hp and I'm waiting to try it out once our lakes are no longer solid up here.

Been driving a propane truck for the last 15 years. Excellent vehicle to drive, lots of power, cheap to operate. In my opinion, for an outboard I would stick with gas. Fuel is easier to handle (no heavy metal tanks to lug), propane gets more expensive as you go north and is harder to find in remote locations. Just my 2 cents.

Talking about your truck, do you think it is worth installing a conversion kit on a pick up that pulls a cargo trailer daily?

One of my good friends is in that business. Not worth conversions since they went to fuel inject. It is very expensive as well as typical loss of about 10% power. On the upside the engine will run waaaayyy cleaner and by all accounts will last quite a bit longer than gas. I had an old chev 1/2 ton that I ran on propane back in the day when it was like 25 cents a litre. Had a 400 litre tank as well as gas so always felt like it was a bomb going down the road.

Running an outboard I am not sure, had the propane ice auger and did not care for it.

X2, pretty expensive conversion on the newer vehicles.
