Default Alberta antis are gearing up!

From a F.B. post, regarding an upcoming 'project':

"Thank you everyone!! We (the Exposed Wildlife Conservancy that I co-founded) reached our initial goal of raising $10,000 to kick off our trapping and snaring campaign this winter and it was immediately matched by two anonymous donors. This is a huge first step toward our total goal of $100,000, which will allow us to launch the campaign in partnership with The Fur-Bearers and produce an exciting, new investigative documentary series called Trapped in the Past for Fall 2022. Still want to get in on helping us out and helping potentially save hundreds of thousands of wolves, coyotes, lynx and foxes each winter? Check out www.exposedwc.org/trapped for details. And again, thank you to everyone that has already donated, we really appreciate it!!"

Just like the liberals, they're good at lying their way to success. In the mean time, we do nothing, hoping for the best.

some times you have get your hands dirty and fight fire with fire.
we as a community tend to be quiet and respectful of others, sadly the same cant be said of others that say things about our community. Be it Trapping, hunting, fishing, firearms, etc. We need to find our loud inner voice.
remember god helps those that help them selfs, ( my mother used to tell me this ) could be very applicable to this.

It’s confusing to me. The conservancy allows hunting on many of it properties.
Is it actually an anti hunting group?

The Nature Conservancy of Canada is not an anti-hunting group. I know that they allow hunting on some of their properties. There may be others where it is not permitted.

The organization in the OP is not the Nature Conservancy of Canada. They appear to have adopted a similar name, perhaps deliberately.

I don't know if they are completely against hunting but they seem to be going after neck snares.

So this “exposed conservancy” has created their name so much like the original one. I wonder if the original will go after them in court..

Save thousands of coyotes? The same ones eating cats and dogs and nipping toddlers in the cities? Alberta isn’t what it used to be

I couldn’t find that.

I did remember hunting in nature conservancy land a time or two and the conditions state no Canine hunting allowed.

For sure... Now, this thread could be a great place to gather some constructive ideas and suggestions on how to deal with these kinds of misguided morons.

Looking at the dudes credentials and what he has done …probably not much.

The anti's got beaver trapping stopped in one state and within a couple years municipalities had millions of dollars in damage. They had to bring back beaver control. I suspect this would be the same outcome if these anti's get any traction with this effort.

On the anti's page it states, " Provincial governments in Canada have not meaningfully updated provincial trapping regulations in almost one hundred years". This statement is not true. Canada and Alberta have both been leaders in trap and snare development and have been instrumental in helping set the global industry standards.

Are you referring to a hiker that claimed to have come upon a bait site? I vaguely remember hearing about this fella and that’s something that came to mind. Same guy?

What a scam this guy’s got going on. Solicit donations to pay himself with to make a movie so he can attract more donations.

Fur Bearer Defender that he’s in cahoots with has been at it since the 1930’s. I don’t know of anything that they have accomplished. It must pay well though.

They were the ones pushing for the cougar ban in bc
They were also instrumental in the grizzly bear ban

Here’s the reply I received from the nature conservancy

Hi, thanks for reaching out. The Nature Conservancy of Canada is not related to Exposed Wildlife Conservancy but I am familiar with John Marriott as he is an Alberta-based wildlife photographer.

NCC is not opposed to hunting, we adhere to provincial hunting regulations and some of our properties may be booked at connect2nature.ca.

Are you thinking about the story from February 2019? John Marriott was involved in developing the story to further his agenda:
https://thenarwhal.ca/two-banff-nati...d-by-trapping/

IIRC there was a thread about it at the time?

Yup, that’s where I remember first hearing anything about the guy. He advocated for a hunting/trapping buffer zone around the park. That idea fell flat and imo he was dreaming in technicolour.

Condo's in Canmore are very expensive, you need a lot of bleeding hearts to help pay your mortgage.
