Smile Cooey Model 39 .22 LR single shot bolt action

I recently bought a Cooey Model 39 .22LR from a friend at work . Pretty cool little gun too . I thought it would be a good starter gun for my ten year old son to learn how to shoot with .i will post pics on here when I get home with it . My question is : Where would I start to break it down to give it a thorough cleaning as it hasn't been shot in over ten years . I have never owned an old unlike this before . Never taken one apart either .

To remove the bolt, hold the trigger while pulling it out the rear. Remove the one take down screw on the stock to remove the barrelled action. Clean as usual.
Have fun, my old cooeys shoot really good.

Yes they are great little guns. I know of one that was "used around the farm" since the 30's and never taken apart, just the odd rag run over the surface and it still functions flawlessly. It has since been taken down and everything is fine, just a little surface rust on barrel. Really makes one think that maybe we sometimes over think the maintenace thing. I enjoy it all but have also witnessed those who baby their guns to the point of counter productive, too much oil, or oil in the wrong places. Enjoy that gun and take down is very easy, basic as already mentioned.

I have one that I totally re-did for my 5 year old.

We love it, I love it when we are out shooting with friends and they ask if he can hit a specific gong, he replies um, not sure.......then it rings

Used to be 'Cooey Guy' or someone with a similar name on here who had a bunch of Cooey parts..... I would do some searching......
Western Gun Parts (Edmonton)
gun shows.........
My guess is that there were lots made and in principle, parts should not be hard to find.
Good luck.

Roy at R&T Firearms in Warburg has new and used Cooey parts. He'll even mail them to you if you're too far away to stop by. I often end up at his place looking for parts.
