Typically there is a summer run from June-September and a winter run from December to April. It varies from place to place when the peak time is, but right now is not an optimal time to go steelheading. For most of the legendary Island rivers you won't see them until late November, but as with the Sockeye fishery this year fish can always surprise.

Go on to one of the B.C. fishing forums. Look under the Skeena River Area

The feeder rivers of the Skeena should be doing quite well with steelhead right now.

With every steelheadhead run you will have the friggin char chasing the steelheads eggs.

Like I said I talked with a guy from Smithers last week and he told me that they were having the best Steelhead run in years, right now.

The paper on Wednesday quoted about 40,000 fish in the Bulkley river, which is really hard to believe because the regular carrying capacity in the river is 25,000.

Regardless, before the river came up, I was catching lots.

Thanks for the news article Oagie.

This "first nations" stuff is not good for the fish.

Thanks again
