i know that steel head run in the spring ,,but do they also run sometime in fall as well ,, guy was telling me today theyre running now,, also anyone know where to catch char besides nwt....somewhere closer... thanks
Typically there is a summer run from June-September and a winter run from December to April. It varies from place to place when the peak time is, but right now is not an optimal time to go steelheading. For most of the legendary Island rivers you won't see them until late November, but as with the Sockeye fishery this year fish can always surprise.
The paper on Wednesday quoted about 40,000 fish in the Bulkley river, which is really hard to believe because the regular carrying capacity in the river is 25,000.
Regardless, before the river came up, I was catching lots.
