Bear steak is some of the most tender meat I've ever had. Spring bear, so tender when you try to turn it over it fell apart. I think if you shoot it, you should eat it. With the exception of varmints. Pest control is not hunting.

to a lot of people shooting bears is pest control as they can be a real pian in the @ss.

Freezing is Not a quaranteed way to kill the Trichinella spiralis roundworm.

Freezing wild game meats, unlike freezing pork products, may not effectively kill all worms because some worm species that infect wild game animals are freeze-resistant.

Have been eating bear for years. Hams are excellent smoked, hamburger is great, pepperoni, jerky, salami and breakfast sausage are also excellent. Same problem though, what to do with the hide, Have always shot spring bear.
