Default Best work out

After watching lots of TV I see all these adds for the latest greatest workout program. Anyone on AO use P90X or the Insanity work out? or just go to the gym?

Hard work, motivation and a proper diet is the key to a good workout. I've always used my own workouts that I created. Have got the results I've been looking for, and now work at a workout supplement shop in Calgary and make diets and workouts for people after assisting them in choosing the right supplement for their goals! Supplements are always a little added benefit to getting your results aswell.

Default gym

i am in the gym 6 days a week and love being there and feel like crap when I miss. It takes a while to get to that point though. both P90 and insanity are great workout if you do not like going to the gym are are not comfortable enough to go yet. they both have great online support programms. it all depends on your schedule and personal drive for what is going to work best for you. Alot of people like getting a personal trainer to start as it gives them the incentive to go more. feel free to PM me if u need any help or have any questions.

I've done P90X and just recently started it up again. It's awesome especially if the gym isn't that handy to get to. You don't rightly need a whole lot to get started. It shows results but it can be hard to keep at it for the first month once your past that it gets better.

Yah where I live going to a gym is not an option. I'm lookin for somethin more to boost my Cardio and just get me moving around. Once I get goign I'm fine its just the initial kick in the pants I need to get moving!

I've been thinking the same thing and am leaning towards Tai Chi. My work schedule makes it impossible to take an actual class so I've been looking for a decent DVD to practice at home.

Not a fan of video program workouts, or the new trend of the day...

Run 10k a day, do some free weights on the arms, push ups and crunches.

The only video work out I will do is pilates ...

Running provides great cardio, great muscle building and leaning, and mentally therapeutic when you zone out to the sound of you feet on the road, and the your breathing,....soon you float away in your own head and shut off al the streesors of work, school, whatever....

p90x is insane if you stick to it. If one follows it correctly i will go ahead and say that its better than going to the gym.

There is a reason many military units are using p90x and crossfit

X2 on the running and free weights. Save your money instead of buying gym memberships, fad of the week or whatever. Start slow and build up your endurance.

Let me guess you have be-jeweled zumba pants worth 400 bucks that let's you wheel all the ladies? Or they think of you as a non threatening friend they are comfortable to change in front of because of the "vibe" you toss out being in zumba.

I think you're onto something there NBFK....

For biking, this is THE best.

For rowing, this is a good alternate.

Default simple for me

I love the treadmill on a fast walk pretty good for us over 50 types. 40 minutes has me sweating pretty well, World health club is near where I live. Going to go everyday for a few weeks as the shortbread cookie season is coming up fast. FS

I run 4 days a week and lift 2 days a week. I use the Body for Life cardio program. 20 minutes of running in one minute intervals. Its efficient, quick and effective. I usually run 2 minutes at 6 mph warm up, then run 4 intervals at 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, and 8.0. Then run one minute at 9.0 mph followed by 2 minutes at 7.0.
I walk for 4 minutes at 3.6
Intervals are the key. Also, if you want to boost the cardio, try a Jacobs Ladder, they are brutal.....

Or....hit the Wave in Whitefish

Apparently ..... if your looking to get into shape and not body build etc..

The Kinex and Wii systems are good for the average person.
I watched a program about simply playing the games on it .

It's a low impact.. stay at home.... no nonsense of getting into
shape. The next step of their actual exercise programs are
even better.

Cheap to operate and for most new commers to the fitness
realm..... its a privacy thing also

I think we have one in the house somewhere and ......
I dont use it ......

its simply second hand info.

have always been very active over the years, but as the years get on, it becomes harder. My personal favourite is xcountry skiing. You can stroll, walk, run, race, climb, bush whack, and just plain enjoy the outdoors. A boot/ski package is competitive against any fitness membership, and it's open 24 hours a day. A side benefit is one enjoys winter.

Default Insanity workout rocks!

I've never been a fan of video workouts until I tried this one. Give it a try, its really good. Prior to doing this I was always jogging so I wanted to try something different and I'm glad I did. After doing the workout as it suggsts for about 9 weeks, I now do it 3 or 4 times of week just to maintain.
