We were at Calling last weekend, it wasn't that bad. Not as bad as I expected.

Went to calling this past sat, lake is really starting to turn for the best.
Little floaters still in the water.

Just got back from Calling. Some eyes but hitting on a Jig and a worm? This was really really good action. Other regular fair did not work??? In the same spot???

Anyways, water quality is really improving, no floaties, winds have been pretty steady, some green in the water, but better that most lakes, no boat grunge on pull out.

Rock Island has produced for some neighbours at the lake who did the trip today. Cdn Wiggler yellow five of diamonds in 12 FOW, trolled.

There are warning signs at the Rock Island boat launch, lake is low. All kinds of road rash (and some burnt rubber)on the concrete blocks, better bring an endgate of road-crush unless you have small rig.

Got bounced around on Calling in the afternoon, wasn't hot and heavy but did manage supper. Good to see F&W at the dock checking.

I was out at calling for the first time ever on Saturday in a 14 footer. .. was rough as hell we got beat up, but we are 2 ex guides who drove 3 hrs for a fish so we didn't give up. . Tried near water plant in 12 feet... a few pike.. tried in front of houses and pin reeds near ramp nothing... beat across to Vw point and fished the drop off in 16 ft. .. only pike. .. went out to 30-35 feet
Started marking fish everywhere. .. Caught about 10 walleye in the deep water. . Some really tiny ones that bit like perch... 2 oversized skinny big head walleye.. a few keepers.. overall a slow tough day. ... Would I go back? ?? Not in a boat... maybe ice fish that point, but I can do much better fishing 1hr from edmonton where I catch fatter, scrappier walleye. The lake is c & R but that's okay. Caught on minnows and worms
.

With regards to it during the winter:
More productive lakes nearby. Calling is way better open water from my experience.
