Default Burnt my eyes being on the ice all day with no sunglasses

Just wanted to remind everyone to wear protection, My eyes are dry and beat red from being on the ice. Even though I was not facing the sun. The reflection still burnt my eyes.

Wear sunglasses and make sure the kids have some as well. Polarized and UV protection!

Be safe everyone!

Hope Huy gets some relief. Might be sandy eyes still to come.

Blindman river got its name many years ago because two men walking on foot from the south to Fort Edmonton area became snow blinded and got lost in that river valley.

Bad time of the year for snow blindness.

Well that wasn't a very good idea. Fisherman and sunglass tans are like two peas in a pod. As import as your rod. You're going to get macular degeneration early in life. Then when you will be back to fishing blind, haha. Thanks for the warning. The March Madness is upon us. Fishing has been crazy the last two days out here in BC for rainbows, brookies and kokanee.

Thanks for the heads up Huy! Hope you feel better soon. I never go anywhere without my Ray Bans and some sunscreen, and I'm happy we are gonna need it again.

We need to get out fishing again before all the ice melts away!

You're not going to get macular degeneration from a couple days on the ice without shades, but yes, retinal protection is extremely important if you spend alot of time on the ice and outdoors in general. You get what you pay for with sunglasses, so no cheaping out if you really want retinal protection. Choroid melanomas can occur in those with sufficient UV exposure, especially those with light coloured irides. Macular degeneration sucks, but choroid melanomas can lead to a case of the deadsies. Wear optical UV protection, you only get one set of eyes.
