Default Changes to Red Deer River Fishing Regs

Hello! Long-time lurker, starting a thread for the first time today.

Just wanted to ask... Did anyone notice the changes to fishing regulations for the red deer river? They’ve now changed it to maggots only. Not sure how that changes things. I know it seems like a non-issue but red deer river is my go to if I am bringing people fishing for the first time or if I’m bringing kids to go fish. We just bring a packet of worms and off we go. Almost always we’d catch something. Not sure how the maggots will work though. Does it work on goldeyes the same as worms?

Thanks guys!

Default well

It's been only maggots for years.I used to like locusts with no weight 3ft from a small bobber and cast upstream from where they were feeding in the evening.Tiny 5 of diamonds yellow/red and or small spinners work as well.Beef or deer heart under a bobber was a staple.Alberta's fish have been so mismanaged over the years it's surprising there are any left.
