Out early this morning with my son for the first time this winter and we got skunked. We did have fun though and at least we got a hook in the water. Our bait was completly rotten this morning so we went with nothing anyway. Thanks to the one gentleman on the ice with a few trout flopping around for sharing some shrimp. We only had a few bites when we left. Can't wait to get out there again.

I was out a few days ago and it's about a foot thick now.

That's not too bad. I'm itching to get out on the ice, but out of fear for safety I usually don't go out until after new years. I'd feel okay about a foot I think...
