Default Shore fishing around edmonton

Hello everyone. First post.

I have decided to take up fishing once again. Been a few years since the last time. The girlfriend and kids have also had fun fishing with me. I guess you could say we are into it as a family now. I have been trying to find info about some good shore fishing spots that are kid friendly. The kids are aged 6,8 and 10. If anyone is willing to share we would greatly appreciate it.

So far we have caught some fish in the NSR north of hiway 43 off the yellowhead and from the pier at Seba beach. Only problem with the pier is that the young ones cant cast out to where the fish are. I end up casting and letting them real in my rod or hand it over to them once i get a bite.

Thanks for any help.

There is no shortage of spots to fish the NSR from, let Google Earth lead your way.

Lots of stocked trout ponds around for the kids, Hermatige Park, and Jim Nielsen in the city and there are countless stocked ponds within a half hour drive.

Google "Edmonton area trout ponds"

Good luck!

Hermitage hasn't been stocked for a few years due to proximity to NSR and whirling disease in the stocked fish. Unfortunate loss as it was a great little spot to hit in town. Was a fantastic early ice fishery as well. Maybe one day they will stock it again. Don't waste your time there. Check the stocking list to ensure where you are going has indeed been stocked.
