Default New Furniture - where to buy ?

Looking to buy some new QUALITY leather furniture. Just looking for suggestions on where to look in either the Calgary or Red Deer areas. I know that there are lots of options in Calgary but I don't have time to check them all out. We are looking to buy a couch/loveseat, a sectional and a couple chairs.

Thanks for the advice.

Believe it or not, your best bet is probably Costco online. You dont need to go to Penthouse/Bondars type places to get premium leather pieces.

Avoid places like the Brick, Leons ect. Plus u cant beat the warranty at costco. Only downside is u cant look in person at what furniture is available. Iv ordered many swatches over the years for pieces I've been interested and every "top grain" leather swatch Iv received was indeed very high quality leather.

When I compared a few brands/model line that Costco carried at the time, every retailer said Costco's price was way below their own cost. I believe this as pieces I priced out through the few retailers in Calgary that could order the pieces were more than 2x what Costco was selling for.

Good luck

Sims in Red Deer
the manager there is pro-hunt (or was when i was in the furniture market) and stocked those couchs in mossy oak and realtree.
it is more of a mid level to upper end store in price.

I've seen some decent stuff at the Sears furniture stores. I guess it also depends on what kind of look you're seeking; old puffy wood pannelled gentlemens club smoking room furniture, scandanavian stark/modern, Brick/Leons tacky, traditional antique themes like Arts & Crafts or Mission style. Themes like western or Santa Fe/New Mexico.....

Personally I like a lot if pieces in Bracko Brothers in Calgary.

Nordesign off Blackfoot has some decent couches if you can get past all the funky euro stuff you will find something that might work.

The leather part is easy.

It's the construction of the couch that counts

#1 choice is something called 8 way hand tied spring system
IF you can find this and IF you can afford this, BUY IT!!

#2 is a Sling type system It's a good way to go and perhaps the only way

#3 is the Zig Zag system, stay away from this, you will be replacing before you know it.

Good luck and remember you are looking for FULL GRAIN leather. The other stuff is cut in half.

I got in there yesterday for the first time and mostly due to the location wasn't expecting much. I was very happily surprised by what I found in terms of selection and quality. All the pieces we looked at were sturdily built with this strange, almost alien-like material called natural hardwood, and the dovetail joints and mortice and tenon joinery made me wonder where to put the little allen wrench and the instruction sheet with pictures. We ordered the starter piece for our bedroom set, I'd have pulled the trigger on a full bedroom and office suite if I had the dough.

Had bad dealings with Amber's in NE Calgary. They screwed up our order and wouldn't replace the wrong coloured pieces, ended up swapping for the showroom demos. They are a little shady like used car dealers ...

But some of the furniture is nice.

Sears whole home furniture , they sell Natuzzi real leather furniture, very well made stuff.

Leons and the Brick sell bonded leather and other junk, they must be the worst furniture stores in the bussiness.

Default Nor design

We have leather and lots of other furniture

From nor design. Seems ok to me.

The dog is not allowed on any of it ....

He actually has is own furniture.

Important.....when buying leather sofas

Lots have leather top and vinyl side panels .

This is not good vinyl cracks....

All our lazy boy stuff was built this way

Lasted just long enough for the warranty to be over .

Ethan Allen. Bring a fat wallet.

Finesse in Edmonton was very good when they were in south Edm. Not sure if things have changed since they moved to the NW.
