Default Lesser Slave Lake Great Walleye Action!

Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9EZ6nytnaM

Lesser Slave Lake in Alberta is known for great walleye fishing and this was my first experience on the lake during the hard water season. Supposedly 90 % of the walleye spawn in the river running into the west side of the lake. Since we were fishing the first week of March and spring was coming it seemed like the West side of the lake would be where to go. We drove onto the lake and noticed a line of ice huts. We picked a location and drilled some holes and noted these shacks were not on any structure. So we drilled towards shore until we found to drop off from 30 feet of water up to 10 feet. As soon as we got onto the drop we started to nail the walleye. They were very concentrated in this location and the action was steady for the first few hours. It tapered off later during the day but we continued to catch walleye, pike and tulibee. In the afternoon we tried our deeper holes near the ice hut depth and ended up catching a couple nice perch and more walleye. What a great day for our first time ice fishing the lake.

The video and report were new, these pics were posted prior.

Yeah, this was my first time their ice fishing and it was stellar! Probably the most walleye I've caught on Ice in one day. Impressive numbers and not bad for size. Biggest was 58cm.

PS - good signature!

Nice vid, Brandon, my shack is in the background of the first clip!

Just so you know, even though you think the shacks might not have been in the right place, we caught 2 63 cm walleye, 3 in the 56 - 60 range, and NUMEROUS 52 - 55's over the winter from the shack......

This one being the best of the year, almost 65cm:

I really enjoyed your vid, I miss being out there already!

Outdoors forever... oh no you guys were not in the wrong place just that it didn't seem like the shacks were on structure, is what I was saying. I was just looking for the drop off when we got there in the am because I thought the fish would be moving off the shallows into the deeper water. In the afternoon we moved out to those deeper holes closer to the shack and caught some fish out there as well. Got the perch out deeper. That is a great location though, you caught some really nice fish. That was my first time Ice fishing Slave and it wont be the last.
