Don’t worry everyone on here knows what field dressed is... looking at a map of coues deer distribution should prove why you are getting so much flack. Why are you so set on this deer not being a normal Alberta whitetail?

Because it's fills in an empty gap that can only be filled when one is, or is in possession of, something "special".

Kinda like the guy at work with a completely stock vehicle that he claims is a special order, super high horsepower, limited edition, ruby diamond, Chuck Norris edition ford tempo in the rare teal color.

Stick to fishing...trolling is the method I would suggest...you would likely be great at that.

Perfect analogy when you look up the Alberta whitetail and it originally was called the Virginia whitetail

Seriously ?!
So at what point if history was this?
I have read about white tail biology since the early 60’s and never read anywhere that the Virginia white tail was ever found this far west or north!
Or the Coues for that matter......

Yes seriously.......there is a light coloured whitetail (Virginia) and the dark ones (South Dakota whitetails). An adult whitetail on average weighs 160 pounds where as a Coues Whitetail weighs on average 100-115 pounds. Mine would’ve been not much over 100 pounds.

I believe that this is what is confusing him.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White-tailed_deer

Quote:
The white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), also known as the whitetail or Virginia deer
He seems to be confusing the subspecies with the fact that some people refer to the entire species as Virginia deer.

No. That isn’t confusing me......there are 27 subspecies of whitetail deer which includes the Coues. They run throughout from Canada to South America. That is from research online

Did your research tell you Coues deer live in Alberta?

The research should tell you , that there are no Virginia or Coues subspecies anywhere near Alberta.

You missed the most important part of your research which would be the range if all the different subspecies if white tails .
Body weight and colour alone are not good indications .
I would suggest some books by Doctor Charlie Kroll, and Professor Val Geist for starters to get the real low down on white tails and maybe book or two by Leonard Lee Rue111 and Russell Thornberry

You guys are saying there isn’t 27 subspecies of whitetails? All I did for a search is type in are whitetail deer related to Coues Whitetail deer and it told there are 27 subspecies including Coues.
Search as to wether or not Virginia whitetails are native to Alberta and do the same for South Dakota whitetails and tell me what you find out

I never said there are not 27 different sub species what ii said is you need to check their range habitation of each subspecies.
Finding a Virginia or a Coues up here is about as likely as finding a Key White tail although you may find small and dark Dacotensis quite often
You are getting the main name ( Odocoileus Virginianus )mixed up with various sub species.
However if you say that it is because you read it in Wikipedia have at 'er.

As one my self I take offence to that I’m a millennial and and hope is lost if he can’t grasp that it’s a whitetail not a couse not a Sitka blacktail not a mule deer just an average sized Alberta whitetail with average rack along with the rest running around Alberta

Funny you say that. Bio's have tracked elk from southern Alberta as far south as the Mississippi.

Then again , the north end of the Mississippi really isn't that far south.
