Default Switch rods

It was on sale and I have been curios to see if there is any benefit in using a switch rod on still water. Well my casting needs work but I can see that there is some benefit. I can cast further with only one back cast and I'm thinking that the extra length will be benificial when bobber fishing with long leaders. Has anyone else tried this?
