Default My Sailfish

Went to visit a buddy for a few days down in Mexico. He had some connections with some friends with a boat and we went out for a couple days of fishing and cruising along the coast.

I caught the biggest of the trip the first 30 min out. It was 105 inches long. I did not weigh it and it would be nice to get an idea of weight if anyone has any idea of what it would weigh that would be nice.
It had been feeding when we caught it and it was tired from feeding and was not much of a fight. It also ran at the boat which probably made it seem like an easier fight but it was way cool to see the thing chase the hook around before we hooked it. Caught it right on the surface 80 yards behind the boat. We also caught a bunch of other stuff on the boat as well but nothing like this.

That's a good sized sailfish- It would weigh likely 100 lbs with a full belly.

My guess would be 90-100 lbs as well. Your right about one thing Nube, they are a blast. Try casting to one 15 feet behind the boat with a fly rod.......now that will get your heart pumping !!!!!!!! If that doesn't, try a much larger Marlin !

It's funny about casting just behind the boat because we actually did that. There was an old net floating with some palm tree branches in it and we were tossing live fish out under it to see what we could get. I could only imagine actually catching one that close tot he boat and in that way. I think I am going to make this a yearly fishing trip instead of the Salmon thing for a few years and try to get one of those Marlin. We saw a guy with a marlin and it was massive.

Great job - good sized Mexicans, well fed, no visible signs of H1N1.

My blue marlin was 108 inches and weighed in at 150 pounds. Mine was alot fatter than yours though so I would guess about 100 pounds. Mine put up a 1 hour and 20 minute fight. Fish of a lifetime. Congrats man.
