I know about a half dozen people with one. No complaints from any of them. One buddy claims that since he put 35's in it he gets 24 mpg, according to the computer lol. None of them get what the specs say. Average seems to be 15-17 unloaded. Can't comment on the towing.

Sounds like a lot of truck for a tent trailer. Maybe a F150 EcoBoost is in your future...

Default Ford forum

Head over to one of the Ford forums lots of info there. As suggested though for a tent trailer and Ecoboost may be better choice.

I have heard they are very bad on fuel(empty) and it is really too bad there are no other motor option for the heavier trucks! I wonder how long it will be before the ecoboost is offered in another line like the heavier truck.
I would say a 350 rides better than a 250 for any that i have ridden in.

I agree with a couple other posters. A F250/350 is a little excessive for a tent trailer. A nice riding ecoboost 1/2 ton is likely the best route. They will pull stumps out plus haul the trailer.

Default F250

I have an F250, 2011 with the 6.2 l. It sucks on gas empty or loaded, but I didn't buy it for the mileage, I bought it to use a sled deck and haul w quads and a 29' foot trialer into the bush. If I wanted good mileage I would have bought a corolla and a cabin at the lake.

I bought one in Jan/12 and love it. Lots of power and reasonable on fuel. 15-18mpg sounds about right. I had a 2008 1/2 ton before with the 5.4 and it seems to be burning the same amount of fuel on a daily average. I put on about 250-300km per day and my monthly fuel bill didnt have a change in liters used.

ford 6.2 liter is almost essentially the rebirth of the 390 from the sixtys. only a tiny tiny bit smaller

390/6.4l was 4.05'' bore x 3.78'' stroke. The 6.2L is 4.03'' x 3.75''?

even the 390 got 16ish mpg, Ive gotten up to 25mpgs with this design with 3.54 in the rear

The 390 is the 427's lttle brother, the 6.2 is essentially a 390. One badd motor.

Thanks guys I forgot to add a tent trailer plus a quad and I want a truck with a 6 1/2 foot box and I don't trust a v6 twin turbo and the 5.0l is just to small iam happy with 15mpg. Right now I got a 2000 Chevy ext can with the 4.8 l and the hills kill it when it's full of camping gear and iam typing this on my iPhone Thanks CN

maybe consider buying a few years old so you don't take the major hit of buying new. Cuz it's a lot of money down the drain as soon as you drive off the car lot.
