Default After the 1st gun?

With lots of questions about 1st guns what would chambering would be your 21st gun?

I've got 204 ruger,223, 243 win, 257 wby, 26 nos, 7mm08, 30-06, 338wm,338rum and 358 utm, 45-70. I'm not a big fan of 30 cal mags but I'm thinking my next rifle will be in 28 nosler or 30 nosler

How many of those rifles do you use?

I’m not sure how many rifles I’ve owned but I never seem to use more than 2 at a time ever. After having a variety of cartridges I’ve settled on .284 diameter cartridges as being my go to caliber, they seem to offer the best balance.

I’ve always wanted a vanilla 7mm rem mag but have never owned one until now, so I guess my 21st gun is a 7mm rem mag. I’ve got a couple 243’s for yote work and a 22 for chickens and rabbit, really I think that covers about anything I need a rifle for. But no two humans are the same so odds are several people will disagree.

For a completely different experience why not go 50 cal black powder. they come along fairly cheap on CGN sometimes. fun to shoot.

Kurt, I suppose I use 4 depending on the day. 257,26 and one of the 338's. Usually it's my 338 wm is my go to. Like the lady from Frank's red hot " I use that **** on everything".

Jungle I don't have much interest in black powder but I suppose that could change. A 50 bmg has been something I've wanted for a very long time.

Maybe a carbine of some sort? Lever in 30/30? Or pistol caliber? Maybe a 9mm carbine? Start looking more at platform perhaps and not so much at cartridge... just a thought

Got mod 94 30/30 and had a 1894 in 44 mag. Heck even got 1 or 2 maybe 3 7.62x39. Had/have levers, semi's, singles and bolts. There's so much out there that it is a tough choice in terms of platform and chambering. I'm pretty rounded out in the small bore to medium calibers with the exception of a high horsepower 7mm or 30 cal.

Once you see what a high horsepower 7mm is capable of, and how little recoil it has, you wont need those other guns.

Likely going the other way. Was looking in my safe the other day and realized there's a couple of rifles we didn't shoot at all last year.
Never been someone who had to own 'everything'...and as I've gotten older I want less...though what I do keep I want to be of very good quality.
Not just firearms...trying to extend this philosophy to everything I own.

In all honesty I've got pretty much all the bases covered imo. The next gun will be more than likely just be something to to have with no real purpose in mind. Most if not all the rifles I own were bought with a purpose in mind to justify my impulse purchase. We all know how that works. Lol.

I'm envious of the guys that are buying there first rifle. Sure there's a lot of choices and none of them would be wrong but imo the decision is fairly easy compared to the guy with multiple rifles that is looking for that one that'll fill a niche.

For the guys with a mixed bag of platforms and chambering what do you base your next purchase on?

It was mentioned in another thread, but how about a classic. You said not a lot of interest in the .30's, but I think a .300 H&H would be just plain cool, particularly in a pre 64

I have tried many different cartridges, but I always end up going back to the 7mmstw, as my main big game cartridge.

You already have a 26 nos so a 28 would be pretty repetitive. If you want the ultimate 7mm build a 7-338 Lapua improved. I know where you can get a reamer

Maybe for a 21st gun a John Rigby 470 Nitro Express double barreled rifle is in order.

Ha ha just got to win that 60 million.

Had 375 but a 416 barret would be a nice addition just because.

I looked into the 416 Barrett before. They are definitely a specialty rifle
Any cheytac would be neat too.
Could probably whack an elk pretty easy from your deck

I have over 20 firearms in the locker. Covering all the " needs" in both platform and caliber. I'm not in a place where the finances are available to add but if I was looking to add i would be adding sub niche guns like super compact ( mares leg) or different guns like a 94 (30-30) as currently I have a 336...ECT... Lately I've been trying to divert more money away from firearms and into other hunting/ shooting items.

I'm not sure, considering 6 of the last 10 that I have purchased never even saw one round through them during my ownership. Buy something shiny one day, only to sell later on due to being a dust collector. I'm thinking maybe a 6.5x55 or maybe a 7mm-08.
