Default Snaring Rabbits

I don't know anything about trapping; and I could probably look it up in the regs somewhere, but I will go ahead and ask anyway. Can anyone go out and snare rabbits? Or do you need a trapline or a trapping license of some sorts.

I love eating rabbits and if you can snare them, then this may be a good way to fill your belly.

I tried to reply to you the other day but until today was unable to do so. My reply was the same as the prev. fella stated but in addition only do so with the landowners permission. He may have critters of his own that would not look good in your snares. We used to have a lot of rabbits, till the newfies come to town-they like them too...LOL

Hey, what do you know, chef, you're right. When did they change the rules?

(From the Trapping regs):

Snares* for taking fur-bearing animals may only be set by holders of Registered Fur Management Licences or

- by holders of Resident Fur Management Licences for bobcat, coyote, fox, squirrel or wolf (provided they meet the requirements listed in this section) and for beaver (provided the snare loop is completely under water).

- By residents for rabbit or hare on lands to which they have right-of-access (provided the snare wire is not larger than 20-gauge and the snare loop is not more than 13 cm (5 in.) in diameter).

* Snare devices include neck snares, power-neck snares and foot snares.
