Default Antelope Down South

Just curious is anyone knows how hard to antelope got hit by last winter? Have heard that they got hammered. Tried to call and email the biologist in the Med Hat area but haven't heard back.

It's going to be a tough year for anybody gets drawn for pronghorn. I've only seen one little one in all my travels this year. Numbers are way down and haven't seen anything even close to pulling the trigger on.

I think you're right... I probably could have drawn a tag this year, but I decided to wait for a more promising fall.

Dang it!!!!

I was brain dead when I applied..... guaranteed I’m gettin drawn this year.

Oh well...... hard hunts make better stories.

I’m looking forward to it. Me, my boy, and my good buddy chasin speed goats this fall.

Can’t wait!

I could have pulled a tag this year as well, but with the deep snow this past winter and the summer that is supposed to be dry again like last year. I held off for another year. It may be another year of very limited access. Good luck to those that get drawn!

I talk with a lot of farmers her in the south and am always asking about what they see for critters. All have suprised at the amount of antelope they have seen this spring. Doesn't sound like winter kill is too bad.

I spoke with a senior biologist from the province about months ago and at that time he said winter kill was looking like it would be patchy. Some places there were lots of dead deer and goats, other places looked pretty good.

I've seen some, but from the looks of it, the herds look pretty small compared to last year.
